Juice Therapy: Therapeutic Properties of Parsley, Pot Herb and Lettuce Juice

PARSLEY (AJMOD)

Its seed grows very slowly. Hence, to hasten its growth, it is sowed alongside radish so that it quickly sprouts. It is used to garnish meats and fish and also used to stuff fowl. Parsley has pleasing aromatic flavour which aids to appetizing of meat, fish, sauce, salad and fish but its leaves should always be collected and used fresh so that its food value and aroma are retained. Its leaves are also used to garnish and flavour food and other preparations.

Juice of parsley should never be taken alone or in large quantity (but never exceeding more than 40-60ml). It should always be mixed with beet or carrot, juice to obtain maximum benefit in keeping the blood vessels (arterioles and capillaries in particular) in healthy and normal functioning state.

It is particularly useful in having a tonic and salutary effect on genlio-urinary system and, thus., removes many urinary disorders like, unnary bladder pain and swelling, inflammation of kidneys, presence of- albumin (albumenurea) in urine, and other kidney diseases.

We repeat, parsley juice should never be taken alone rather it must always be mixed with can-ot juice. A mix of carrot and parsley juice (or parsley juice mixed with lime or orange juice) will cure most of eye troubles like, corneal opacity and/or ulceration, cataract, haziness of pupil, ophthalmia, conjunctivitis, weak vision etc.

POT HERB, CHENOPODIUM ALBUM (BATHUA)

It is a well known green (leafy) vegetable and is used in vegetable, or used in raita. It is nutritious and delicious; full of vitamins and iron to raise haemoglobin content in the blood. It is also mixed with spinach Or mustard leaves to prepare a cooked vegetable. It removes constipation and restores exhausted and spent up energy.

Pot herb is an excellent remedy to expel intestinal worms. Extract 10-15 ml juice of the vegetable and add a pinch or so of rock salt to it, for being taken thrice daily, preferably after principle meals. If you want to retain youth and vigour, take juice of pot herb and mix some lemon juice and rock salt to it. It may be taken twice daily, after lunch and dinner.

It may be used in salads daily to improve appetite by adding some tomato, lemon juice and rock salt to it. This is a vegetable grown and used in winter only, hence it should be used in wintry conditions only.

LETTUCE (LACTUCA)

It is a garden herb with crisp leaves and is used as salad. It is grown mostly in sandy and marshy lands and moisture helps in the growth of its heads, but high temperature is inimical to its growth. It has enough of A B vitamins and, in addition, it also contains magnesium, silicon, calcium and iodine. As for iron, it must be frequently replenished to make up for the lost quantity or to be released by liver as and when required.

Its high content of magnesium helps to vitalize nerves, tissues and brain. Magnesium is a builder of body cells which helps to maintain normal fluid content in the blood. Its sodium and vitamin’A’ contents get a booster, in enhancing its efficacy when its juice is mixed with carrot juice.

As for growth, health, lustre and black and natural life of the hair, a mixed juice of spinach, carrot and lettuce should be taken daily, three or four times, in good quantity so that proper and requisite nourishment is. provided to the hair. In addition, it also helps to stimulate hair growth and thus it may be inferred that it can be quite useful and valuable in baldness (alopecia) and other related skin disorder, especially connected with health and growth of hair. Some people also use it in salads, due to nutritious values and should, therefore, be used with salad or in a blanded juicing form combination, as mentioned above.
