OPIUM
Painlessness with nearly all complaints. Complains of nothing; asks for nothing. Useful when well-indicated remedies fail to act due to lack of susceptibility. Sleep heavy, stupid with sterterous breathing, red face, eyes half-closed; skin covered with hot sweat. Bed feels so hoi, he cannot lie on it. Digestive organs inactive; peristaltic motion reversed or paralysed.
Constipation of children; stool hard, black balls; protrude and recede. Bad effects of fright; effects of the fear still remaining. Spasms of children after nursing after fright of mother.
PETROLEUM
Symptoms appear and disappear rapidly (Bell). Vertigo on rising in occiput, as if intoxicated, like seasickness. Gastralgia of pregnancy,whenever stomach is empty; relieved by constant eating. Skin of hands, tips of fingers cracked, fissured every winter;feet bathed in foul-smelling sweat. Diarrhoea during the day (better at night).
PHOSPHORUS
Young people who grow too rapidly are inclined to stoop. Burning in spots (various parts) in diseases of the nervous system. Haemorrhagic diathesis; small wounds bleed profusely from every mucus outlet. Cough on going from warm to cold air. WORSE lying on left side. Pain in chest from slightest chill and lying on left side. Craving for salt, salty food, fish, ice-cream, cold milk – which ameliorates. Keen intellect, quick perception.
Affectionate; Better by sympathy consolation. Cannot stand loss of sleep; Amel. by short sleep. Water is thrown up as soon as it becomes warm in stomach. Diarrhoea as soon as anything enters the rectum, profuse, pouring away as if the anus remained open. Desires company; fear of being alone. Fear of dark. Sympathetic to others’ sufferings.
PHOSPHORIC ACID
Persons of strong constitution debilitated by loss of vital fluids. Is listless, apathetic indifferent to the affairs of life -prostrated and stupefied with grief. Children and young people who grow too rapidly – trembling, legs weak. (Growing pains). Headache of school girls from eyestrain, of students who grow too fast. Diarrhoea : painless, white or yellow,non-debilitating.
Profuse urinations at night, milky white (phosphates in excess). Several emission in one night, frequent, profuse, debilitating; abashed and despair of cure.
