This Condition manifests itself in the form of inflammation of the skin and is characterced by appearance of small lobsters – Caused by Viruses. Herpes simplex (Called Cold Sore also) Can cause acute conjunctivitis or even inflammation of Vagina or mouth, though same people contract the virus even without showing any symptoms.
Herpes Zoster (Called ‘Shingles’ also) generally starts with pain along the distribution nerve (often in abdomen, chest or face) followed by Vesical development. The disease usually lasts for about 3 weeks, but the severe pain may continue (in the area of the affected Nerve) for months. The Virus, which causes Herpes Zoster, Can also cause chicken pox in Children. Patients may have fever, sever pain, smarting, apart from restivity.
Use any one ofthe following drugs, depending on patient’s condition, age and sensitivity factors
(1) Cap/tablet of ‘Rebavin’ or ‘Virazide’-200 mg 3-4 times daily for adults and for children 10 mg/kg/day in divided does. Do not use in pregnancy, asthma, anaemia, Renal impairment, hepatic fibrosis, lactation period. The drug is said have no visible drug underactions but may have side-effects like respiration problems, hypertensioin, Cardiac arrest
(2) ACTIVER-DT/Cyclover,/Herperax/Hevir Lovir/Ocuvir/ Zovirax tablet (200 mg tablets) Give 200 mg 5 times daily for 5 days at an interval of 4 hours for Herpes simplex and 800 mg 5 times daily for 7 days for Herpes Zoster. For prophylaxis/ suppression 200 mg, 4 times daily (this is adult dose), for children below 2 years 100 mg 5 times daily at an interval of 4 hours (For Flerpes simplex). Prophylaxis for children below 2 years 100 mg 4 times daily at an interval of 6 hourly. For children above 2 years adult dose may be given Read Carefully relevant lilerature supplied with the brand.
