The essential oil is normally procured from the peel of the fruit. It is interesting that, as aromatic as the fruit is, it takes an incredible amount of raw product to manufacture a small amount of essential oil. For this reason, much of the available lemon oil is actually made up of only a small portion of natural essential added to a synthetic base oil.
